Hace 42 años fue la visita de la Reina Isabel II a Puerto Vallarta
Como parte de sus recorridos de buena voluntad por el mundo, los días 20 y 21 de febrero de 1983, la reina de Inglaterra estuvo en Puerto Vallarta y recibió las llaves de la ciudad. En los registros de su visita consta que el entonces gobernador de Jalisco, Flavio Romero de Velasco, y el presidente municipal, Jorge Lepe, le dieron la bienvenida y la acompañaron a visitar el asilo de ancianos ‘El Coapinole’.
Jorge Lepe fue el encargado de entregarle las llaves de la ciudad y declaró a la reina Isabel II como un huésped distinguido de Puerto Vallarta. El alcalde refirió que la visita de la reina “fue algo muy hermoso”, ya que nunca había llegado un personaje tan distinguido al destino.
La soberana inglesa saludó a los residentes en la Plaza de Armas y más tarde asistió a una kermés que fue organizada en su honor, donde incluso se tomó una cerveza.
